OEM Ecosystem Planning Leader - 100987

THE ROLE:

Within the Client Computing Group, we are bringing ground-breaking technology to the personal computing ecosystem. Our RYZEN branded products are crafted for the most fast paced developers, artists, and game - people who demand responsiveness and power efficiency from their PC. RYZEN stormed the market in 2017 and continues to excite people across the globe.


The person:

In this role, your primary mission will be to understand how the PC comes together around RYZEN silicon and partner with OEMs (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc) to ensure it happens. Many hardware components talk to Ryzen CPUs and APUs. This leader will ensure the right components are qualified against RYZEN silicon (multi-sourcing in most cases), that those components drive the overall system to perform well, and that the components are available in sufficient quantity to support volumes of RYZEN-based notebooks and desktops. The leader will take a system-level and ecosystem-wide view as opposed to just looking at the CPU. Deep partnerships with OEMs to understand all the relevant components and partnerships with the IHVs (hardware vendors) will be essential to success.


Key responsibilities:

  • Market research and interaction with key customers to understand market trends

  • Interpretation of corporate goals and how OEM client can impact those goals

  • Open partnership with OEMs to understand their components and how they harmonize with AMD silicon

  • Creation of strategic plans to address IHV/component challenges out into time (shortages, single-source, etc)

  • Partnership and negotiation with IHV partners to secure component development and production volume


Preferred experience:

  • Pre-existing understanding of the PC market, with an emphasis on OEM/MNC PC makers

  • Technical knowledge of PC components (storage, memory, networking, power delivery)

  • Customer interaction and partnership skills

  • Outstanding time-management skills - ability to prioritize multiple ongoing projects/initiatives

  • Ability to quickly build effective strategies with imperfect or insufficient datasets

  • Strong interpersonal skills - to work across a large organization and get things done

  • Executive-level presentation skills


Academic credentials:

  • 10+ years in the technology industry, with a focus on supply chain and partner management

  • BS and/or MS degree in Business Management, Finance, or Engineering from a top-tier university, with an MBA being a plus.
