Product Manager Silicon - 85042

 

The Role:

We are looking for a key Product Management leader in the Semi-Custom BU (SCBU) organization. In this highly collaborative role, you will work with technologists, engineering leaders, and key influencers within partner companies to build next-generation solutions and fuel our next phase of growth for SCBU. You will have the opportunity to craft the product vision and evangelize that vision internally with executive management as well as externally. Ultimately launching a product that lives up to the goals you set! There is also a business development aspect to this role that will allow for personal growth in this area.

This Product Manager will partner with the Director of Product Management in the following areas: Executive Alignment Support, High impact Program Management, Communications and Strategic Analysis, creating and delivering content to executive management and high impact customers, and ensuring organizational alignment to business and technical goals.

 

The Person:

Our next new technical team member will have extensive experience in product management/marketing in PC computing products with experience in platforms, silicon, and the software ecosystem that enables them. This person will champion growth and innovate new solutions by partnering with customers to drive the change necessary to turn opportunities into profitable results!

Key Responsibilities:

While working with your manager, you will act as the mini-GM of the product portfolio within the Semi-Custom Business Unit with responsibility for driving execution from planning through high-volume production and end-of-life business process. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with general managers, go-to-market, and sales teams to synthesize market requirements into winning products as well as develop product business cases in collaboration with customer-facing general manager and sales teams that meet Semi-Custom business growth and share objectives

  • Prepare updates and organizes information for reports, correspondence, presentations, budgets for SCBU Director, GM and SVP+ reviews.
  • Keep CVP/GM of business unit appraised in timely fashion of deviation vs. plans (program management, financial, communication, technology).
  • Identify risks to the business and clearly communicate goals to executive partners, ensure processes for projecting revenue and costs are consistent.
  • Collaborate with engineering execution teams to ensure product requirements, goals and objectives are met and exceeded
  • Partner with engineering teams to create a software and platform ecosystem that support the value proposition and vision for AMD’s Semi-Custom products
  • Develop product sell-in collateral and assist Semi-Custom business development teams to communicate future product roadmap and features to customers
  • Lead product migration across multiple generations supporting consistent share growth in selected vertical markets
  • Plan staff meetings agenda, employee Town Halls, off-sites, management meetings, etc.
  • Set goal metrics for new business development, and contribute to that effort, while ensuring team is accurately tracking to goals

 

Preferred Experience:

We're looking for someone with technical experience with leading edge SOC IPs that make up high performance gaming devices (CPU, GPU, Video Codec, high speed memory, audio processors, ideally neural network processing, camera processing). Preferred prior experience in senior product management role for a business unit- leading external and internal marketing strategy, as well as product definition, major customer executive interactions and product lifecycle.

  • Technical and business strategy for a top-20 silicon vendor preferred
  • Ability to convert highly technical value propositions into a compelling customer story
  • Understanding of mobile, desktop, and/or server product development inclusive of hardware and software technologies
  • Outstanding communication skills to convey concepts and recommendations across multiple levels within the organization
  • Experience in business development with a major technology company, closure of contractual terms and conditions, IP licensing terms for a high impact to the company
  • Ability to guide product definition using credible insights developed by interacting with end customers, strategic partners and by following usage, market and economic trends
  • Excellent understanding of how the P&L works for a >$1B business
  • Superior MS PowerPoint skills needed to create and present Product information to multiple audiences including executives and customers
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work quickly under pressure.
  • Strong project management skills with analytical and business acumen – reflected in successful project completions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong grammar, spelling and proofreading.
  • Highly collaborative with ability to work with executives and stakeholders across all functions. Experience effectively working cross-functionally in a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Self-starter/entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Able to use discretion when working with confidential information.
  • Able to adapt to challenging demands with the highest level of service and response.

 

Academic Credentials:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science from a top university or college. MBA strongly preferred
