DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Technical, hands-on engineer responsible for Power Management (PMM) feature validation and enablement at the silicon SoC level up through BIOS, system firmware, and OS levels on AMD Server products.

This individual will be primarily responsible for interfacing with silicon, firmware, and platform design groups to develop and execute Power Management test plans for Server products during emulation and post-silicon bring-up / validation, to debug Power Management feature issues, and to run and maintain validation infrastructure.

 

Candidate Requirements

The candidate must have a BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 1-3 years of relevant working experience in new product development from a silicon design, platform design and/or product engineering discipline.  A successful candidate must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and must be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute feature enablement and validation test plans for SoC- and system-level Power Management features across all AMD Server products
  • Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure (software, hardware, automation environment, and lab setup)
  • Test interactions between various Power Management features using validation infrastructure
  • Debug and drive root-cause analysis for Power Management related issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in developing tools to improve SoC validation and debug
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve post-silicon validation test strategy, methodology, and process

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of Power Management mechanisms/interactions at SoC, OS, and system level
  • Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor architecture and Server platform architecture
  • Debugging skills at SoC and system level
  • Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
  • Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows)
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
  • Familiarity with pre-silicon environments (verification, emulation, virtual bring-up) is a plus
  • Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
  • Must be organized and multitask well
  • Passion and hunger to learn new technology every day and drive to getting things done
