Staff Payroll Specialist

About the Role:

Through this position, we are actively seeking for a strong payroll professional with a proven track of managing and supporting payroll administration and compliance and possesses a strong ERP Payroll system knowledge. With strong project management skills, this role will manage and lead various key projects/initiatives that impact our payroll road-map. Our ideal candidate will be a key decision-maker, who is a self-starter, motivated, takes initiatives, ability to lead and likes to be a team player.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage and support processing of our bi-weekly US payroll for 4200+ employees using an in-house SAP (on-premise) platform.
  • Supervise/Lead the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely processing, reporting and all subsequent responsibilities.
  • Support and perform Payroll validation processes such as payroll inputs, Interfaces/data, down-stream reports and interfaces that includes but not limited to GL Postings, Accruals, third-party payments, and Net Payments,
  • Processing of Terminations, Final checks, and Off-cycle payment runs.
  • Work directly and manage key relationship with HR business partners and key stakeholders within HR, Comp & Benefits, HRIS, IT, Legal, Accounting and Finance.
  • Optimize and leverage the expertise of our global team and lead, train and develop our off-shore team (a part of the shared-services model) to directly support on-shore US payroll operations team.
  • Lead key projects and initiatives that impact and drive improvement for payroll systems and processes.
  • Manage and support the year-end process by ensuring annual balancing of earnings and taxes for accurate and timely issuance of W-2s and filings and ensure system readiness with all tax updates for the current and next year and system updates.
  • Execute and liaise with the third-party vendors for monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings and compliance reporting.
  • Lead and manage the response to all external and internal tax audits and findings.
  • Support Payroll Finance MPO in SOX compliance audits internal and externally.
  • Ensure accurate processing of Expat/Inpat reportable Earnings and benefits.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of payroll-related journal entries including various accruals such as Commissions, Vacations, Payroll Labor cost, etc.
  • Work closely with the GL, Corp Accounting teams and other BU Finance Analysts and respond to payroll related queries on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for standard technical and complex problems and attend to all escalations from internal and external customers on a timely basis.
  • Manage the accuracy of our mission-critical metrics and SLAs for our operations internally and externally and report to management on a quarterly basis.
  • Manage and support ad-hoc reporting, relevant information, and presentations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned but not limited to above.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of payroll experience.
  • 2-3 years of project management role along with a strong understanding of HRIS and payroll ERP systems such a SAP On-premise/SAP EC Payroll (ECP) is strongly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations to ensure compliance.
  • A general understanding of accounting principles and practices is desired.
  • BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related fields, preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification, a plus
  • Strong Interpersonal, Analytical, Attention to Detail and Effective communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of applications, such as excel, word, power-point.
