Staff Technical Writer

The Role:

The Infinity Fabric hardware engineering team is looking for a senior technical writer to own and drive updates to architectural and interface specifications in collaboration with our architecture and design teams. Infinity Fabric is part of every new AMD product being developed across Client, Server, Graphics, and Semi-Custom markets.

 

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with architects and RTL engineers to create and maintain protocol, interface, and design specifications for consumption by other engineering teams such as software or pre-silicon verification. The candidate may also have experience editing technical standards for organizations such as IEEE, Accellera, PCI SIG, or similar, and will be passionate about new products and technologies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complex technical documents to support Infinity Fabric hardware design and software development. Communicate with microarchitecture, design, and validation engineers to define the final target audience, collect and collate technical resource material, write and edit documentation, usher document through review cycles, and publish the final document revision in compliance with company processes and tools.
  • Confer with technical personnel to ensure content accuracy and to resolve questions or contradictions.
  • Deliver documents on schedules determined by document owners and program management.
  • Create or revise graphics based on engineering input.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Excellent writing, editing and organizational skills.
  • Experience writing engineering-level documentation for computer hardware and software.
  • Experience using FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Word.
  • Understanding of engineering terminology used within the semiconductor industry.
  • Understanding of computer systems and components.
  • Proven interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with Visio, yEd, Jira, Twiki, and Confluence.
  • Experience writing or maintaining scripts in languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby to automatically generate documentation.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce, CVS, Subversion, GIT or similar.

 

Academic Credentials:

Bachelor’s degree or Masters, experience preferred
