Strategic Sourcing Manager - Travel, Events, and Meetings


The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for commodity planning and strategic sourcing of travel, events and meetings. This includes developing a global procurement strategy and implementing a supplier development program that has an integrated long term approach on cost, quality, and service. Developing successful relationships with internal customers and suppliers is key. There may be opportunity to serve as a team lead.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop and make recommendations regarding sourcing strategies, requirements planning, and revenue generation using analytics.
  • Manage cross-functional and cross site business processes to support operational (PO) process execution. Participate in process improvement initiatives

The person:

You are a self-starter and adept at identifying sourcing opportunities and driving sourcing initiatives with key partners--with minimum involvement from management. Outstanding negotiation and people skills are critical to this role! You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, who can present to all levels.


In this role you will work with BUs to understand and set cost targets for travel, events and meetings; as well as lead competitive bid process & analysis, price negotiation, cost reduction and business awards for the commodities. You will manage supplier's performance to contractual requirements which meet AMD short and long term needs, and implement contracts to minimize AMD risk and enable supplier accountability for non-performance.

  • Lead Supplier Performance Management (SPM) with key suppliers and manage the quarterly scorecard to review service level on cost, technology, quality, service, and flexibility.
  • Develop multi-year commodity strategy which fully reflects requirements of the stakeholders.
  • Execute all activities associated with Source-to-Pay such that orders are issued and invoiced in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective use of strategic sourcing and Procure-to-Pay processes.

Preferred experience:

The ideal candidate will have intermediate to senior level experience with sourcing, negotiating and contracting corporate travel, events and meetings for a global company. Experience sourcing travel commodities (especially major airline carriers), is critical.
