What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

DCGAP Intern position - The purpose of this role is to significantly contribute to the board production process. Under your Program Manager mentor, you will be responsible for facilitating the flow of information between platform and board program managers and optimizing the tools and processes involved in the execution of your tasks.

What you’ll be doing, but not limited to:

  • Drive and track board product schedules
  • Manage technical issues and mitigate risk for all internal customers, ensuring your products meet or exceed their expectations under tight deadlines
  • Manage the sampling process for both internal engineering teams and customers
  • Oversee material sourcing, particularly for long-lead components
  • Collaborate with the Program Management team, providing updates on plan accuracy, status and risks
  • Lead the charge on process improvement initiatives, help make us better

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Progress towards a relevant degree (engineering, computer science, business, math/stats)
  • Self-sufficient tendencies and initiative—the ability to drive towards self-made goals through to completion with little supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and the want to work collaboratively
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a desire to think critically about process (and process improvement)
  • Leadership and vision
  • Thoughtful organization, prioritization and planning skills with the ability to track and report progress clearly
  • A working knowledge of Python, Excel macros, or any other automation/data manipulation skills

What you will learn

You will gain a deep end-to-end perspective of how a graphics board goes from design to mass production. You will gain tremendous exposure, not just to your immediate team, but to all the teams that you will work with on a regular basis, from engineering to testing and validation to rework and assembly to the business unit. You will come into this role a student, but you will leave an expert in program management, having developed crucial analytical thinking, problem solving, planning, and execution skills.
