Supply Chain Director, Strategic Sourcing

The Role:

We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Director focused on Substrates and Chipcaps to identify new sources of supplies, and to develop and execute sourcing strategies relative to the specific commodity. This role will lead the business relationship to ensure full supply chain support while delivering on time, high quality and cost-effective materials. Collaboration with Advanced Packaging Engineering and Manufacturing Strategy Groups to steer supplier performance end-to-end is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a global team with rapidly growing spend and supplier base
  • Negotiating, and executing all aspects/terms of Capacity Reservation Agreements (CRA), Manufacturing Service Agreements (MSA), MOU’s, VMI agreements, etc.
  • Manage AMD’s growing supply base by implementing Commodity Strategies and drive continuous supplier improvement through development of scorecard and KPI expectations.
  • Benchmarking the assigned industry ensuring competitive value to AMD supply-base
  • Drive AMD’s internal Substrate Cost development modeling, spend management and reporting of cost targets.
  • Lead negotiations of substrates cost, lead-times and capacity roadmap and implementation
  • Direct Business Continuity Planning and Supplier Readiness to ensure suppliers are prepared to meet AMD requirements.
  • Influencing the supplier (or suppliers) in investments that meet AMD future requirements
  • Accountable for all aspects of supplier relationship management including all technical, commercial, delivery and quality
  • Partner with AMD’s Global Operations Manufacturing Strategy, and Supply Chain Management team to coordinate planning and forecasting requirements with suppliers.
  • Lead system and tool capabilities for goal state of real-time product cost and inventory supply forecasting, with strong collaboration and support to FP&A Product and Corporate teams for real-time gross margin forecast capabilities.
  • Own the Company’s forward cost model for pre-production product cost forecasting, partnering with Operations and Engineering on yield and detailed BOM cost projections.
  • Build partnership with key leaders in Operations, Supply Chain, Strategy and Engineering in support of strategic business partnerships with the Company’s third-party Substrate and Chipcap providers, adding a Finance perspective in meeting the Company’s objectives for overall improved financial performance.
  • Communicate key business initiatives, findings, solutions, ideas and results at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Experience:

  • Extensive experience with:
    • Silicon/semiconductor package/technology commodity management
    • Semiconductor high volume environment, including key experience interacting with Supply Chain, product, technology and engineering teams.
    • Substrate, Chipcap or similar Direct Materials Strategic Sourcing role
  • Held Director level positions or above
  • Demonstrated history of productive and successful interactions with a wide variety of internal stakeholders (technology, engineering, procurement, finance, costing, supply chain).
  • Semiconductor experience with a technical understanding of Wafer Fabrication, Sort, Assembly, and Test processes

 

Academic Credentials:

BA/BS in Business, Engineering, etc.; MBA preferred
