Vice President and General Manager, Datacenter GPU Business Unit


The Role:

This key Business Unit leadership role is integral to the continued growth of AMD’s market-leading datacenter GPU + CPU + Software solutions.  This GM will lead teams that that:  define and execute GPU GTM strategy across hardware and software; drive business development across key market segments; and run day to day business operations. The GM will be a key partner with colleagues in the Server CPU business unit, the IP teams, and the sales organization, among other internal constituents. This role works in a high intensity environment requiring heavy bandwidth commitment.


The Person:

The successful candidate has a passion for delivering competitive, high-quality products. She/he will lead a high-performance team that drives the next generation of integrated GPU accelerators + CPU + Software.  This GM is the face to the customer and internal teams working closely with customers’ input to build product plans that prioritize GPU and accelerator products in our roadmap.  The leader must be able to develop strategies to achieve a competitive advantage, champion new ideas, be an innovative and creative thinker, influence executive-level decision-makers across the business, and have strong operational, strategic, and visionary capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehends P&L impact. Has gross margin expectations, and is transparent and articulate about execution goals, risks, and tradeoffs
  • Lead Hardware and Software product management, product marketing and business development – across several key market segments
  • Fosters robust internal and external relationships, alliances, and partnerships to successfully manage product schedule and delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-company engineering (CPU, IP, platform), and Business Unit leaders to deliver quality products at competitive costs and schedule
  • Coordinate solutions to complex multi-discipline and multi-unit issues to advancing GPU acceleration innovation
  • Authoritatively influence cross-functional teams taking charge of product and influences others in a matrixed organization.
  • Build and develop a diverse, growth-oriented high-performance team
  • Heavy interaction with both End User clients and OEM/ODM Clients, more than 50% time working with external versus internal relationships
  • Need to be able to drive and execute “large deals” as well as complex partnerships


Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated successful career progression building a GPU Compute business in the semiconductor industry
  • Expert in the Datacenter GPU Market and ecosystems and significant experience in key workload driven markets such as HPC & AI
  • Proven GPU / Accelerator knowledge – hardware and software with a background in technical marketing, direct product management and/or engineering
  • Sound and rapid decision-making skills, ability to handle ambiguity, and consistent visibility to leadership.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills are vital – this leadership role requires continuous executive communication both internally and externally
  • Proven ability to attract top marketing and engineering leaders
  • Track record of having inspired a change in organizations


Academic Credentials:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; MBA preferred
