High-Speed IO System Lead Engineer (SMTS) – India Team Lead

About the Position:
The AMD Semi-Custom Business High-Speed IO Engineering Team is on the lookout for a dynamic, energetic High-Speed IO System Test Engineer to join our growing team.  We are starting a Team in Bangalore India and we need someone that can be the technical lead for this technology. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product portfolio, you will be part of a high-performance AMD team driving the delivery of high quality, industry leading product technology to market.  The High-Speed IO Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. You will be working with the rest of the Global IO Teams to implement processes and best in class processes in the India Team.

Key Responsibilities:
As a High-Speed IO IP System Test Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and driving the execution of the High-Speed IO subsystem validation for AMD Semi-Custom SOC products. You will be involved in the planning and hiring of resources for the India team and you will help to drive schedule requirements, hardware and software requirements, validation test architecture and test plan development based on the High-Speed IO IP features of the SOC products. The High-Speed IO IP System Test Engineer will also be providing test reports to the AMD customer of the Semi-Custom SOC products.  This includes various Compliance Reports, you will be the lead on getting USB Logo on our SOC product.  You will be working with Industry leading companies and individuals in defining new specification for some of the newest technology in the industry.


Responsibilities include:
- Working with AMD SCBU Leaders in defining the India Team structure and will be involved with the hiring and training of that team.

- Defining and executing the overall High-Speed IO IP functional and Electrical test plans and validation strategy for AMD Semi-Custom SOC products including the compliance and logo testing related to the various High-Speed IOs using hardware & software validation tools, oscilloscopes, & logic analyzers.

- Working closely with supporting teams in SOC design, High-Speed IO IP development, firmware and diagnostics ensuring readiness for first silicon arrival, enablement of High-Speed IO features during bring up, and debug of High-Speed IO related issues throughout the development life cycle.

- Participate in enhancing AMD’s High-Speed IO validation capabilities, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives.

- Engaging with the various High-Speed IO suppliers in support of the SOC system development and the validation execution.


Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering with focus on High-Speed interface technology, High-Speed IO controllers and/or I/O controllers.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in one or more of the following: SOC post silicon Electrical or Functional Validation of High-Speed IO devices, High-Speed IO system validation and/or SOC IP electrical characterization.

- Working knowledge of various High-Speed IO technologies such as USB, HDMI, DP, DPoC, PCIe and others (SVI, I2C, JTAG etc.) that fall into a category we call MiscIO.  Having a strong background in SI work with High-Speed IO technologies is a major plus.

- Requires experience and demonstrated technical expertise in the development & execution of platform level electrical & functional test plans

- Requires experience and demonstrated technical expertise in the debug of processor & PC platform I/O interfaces.

- Demonstrated experience with or knowledge using oscilloscopes, reading schematics and layout documentation, and MS Windows and Office applications

- Team Lead experience is desired.    

- Strong programming/scripting skills (eg. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python) is desirable.

- Extensive experience with debug techniques and methodologies.

- Extensive experience with engineering lab equipment, oscilloscopes, bit error rate detectors etc. 

- In-depth knowledge of PC architectures and system technologies.

- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and customer facing interaction.

- Attention to detail and the ability to analyze data quickly is a must.
- Must be a self-starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently in a dynamic team working environment.
- Ability to flex responsibilities over the development lifecycle.

- Leadership and mentoring skills a definite asset.

- Language Skills:

- Candidate must be able to have conversations in English with the Global Team.

- Mandarin, Japanese, or simplified Chinese would be a major plus.
