Sr. Software System Designer
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an experienced individual to take-up the exciting role of applications engineer for the Commercial Client Business Unit and work on bleeding-edge technology. You will be responsible for scoping, hands-on development, debugging and resolving multi-disciplinary customer issues for commercial client segment and products. You will work closely with software development teams to understand the software design, architecture, use-cases and implementation and then enable the customers in applications of this software into their differentiated innovative products. You will also help in development of critical customer features, authoring and presenting application notes and technical training for AMD field and customer teams.
THE PERSON:
This team is called Client Manageability team, focusing on defining/implementing solutions on wireless manageability with specific focus on operating system internals, synchronization primitives, memory management and multi-threaded applications. This is a great opportunity to work as a part of highly regarded team to deliver leading edge solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Excellent in operating system internals, synchronization primitives, memory management and multi-threaded applications
- Exposure to writing code that scales for multi-threads/CPU cores, compiler optimization in GCC or others.
- Well versed with development of Kernel modules/drivers, debugging, analyzing core dumps in Linux (preferably embedded), RTOS/FreeRTOS
- Hands on with different performance analysis techniques
- Ability to conduct performance measurements, profiling, analysis, make and demonstrate suggestions
- Analysis of cache/latency, live-locks etc.
- Experience in platform security (At hardware level, Trusted execution environment)
- Exposure to coding in assembly and having good understand of processor architecture (ARM/X86/Xtensa) is desirable
- Understand software design, architecture, implementation of use cases and test cases, and enable customers in application of this software into their differentiated innovative products
- Should have good knowledge of source control management system (GIT/Perforce/SVN)
- Should understand the testing domain and should help the test team to define use case driven testing
- Effective collaboration and influencing skills to achieve business goals across teams and organizations
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5-6 years of solid experience in C programming
- Well versed with data structures, ability to write maintainable code
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- MS, M Tech, BE in Computer Science/ Electronics Engineering
