Sr.SOFTWARE ENGINEER – BIOS VERFICATION

 

The Role:

AMD Embedded BIOS verification team is currently looking for engineers who are passionate about and would like to be part of our leading product journey to greatly impact the market. Our team is dedicated to qualifying and deploying BIOS, supporting to tackle BIOS-related issues, and building the groundbreaking products that seek tomorrow’s challenges in today’s data-driven world.

 

The Person:

A successful candidate will employ proven solid BIOS technical knowledge, strong multi-functional communication, and well-honed organizational skills with logical thinking to ensure on-schedule, defect-free customer BIOS solutions. A candidate must be self-motivated and possess the technical proficiency and interpersonal confidence to represent verification ideas technically clearly.

 

A self-starter with the ability to execute complex test plans independently and collaborate with others to resolve problems found. You should feel comfortable working in a lab environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the validation, and debug of various hardware and software components of SoC for upcoming AMD products, while working with software team and other validation team members
  • Define and execute end-to-end test plan and validation
  • Develop knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy
  • Drive technical innovation to enhance AMD’s capabilities in software validation including tools and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Craft and develop use-cases based on the BIOS/FW requirement and then map use-cases to executable test cases
  • Software testing, debugging and detailed & timely reporting
  • Accountable timely test result.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 4+ years of commercial software test experience required.
  • Experience with x86 assembly, UEFI, BIOS, firmware, or system software verification.
  • Experience in key IP components such as security, power management, IO interfaces, and memory (not limited to DRAM, PCIE, ACPI, SATA, USB, multiprocessor systems, power management and system management)
  • Familiar with at least one BIOS base (AMI, Insyde, or Phoenix BIOS)
  • Knowledge of low-level protocols including I2C, I3C, SPI, eSPI, UART is expected
  • In-depth knowledge of BIOS and BIOS debug tools is a huge plus.
  • Hardware knowledge desireable
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work optimally within a highly collaborative environment with colleagues around the world.
  • Self-Motivated with strong passion for learning. 

 

 

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelors/master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering preferred.
