Program Manager

The Role:

The AMD Engineering team is looking for a technical project manager for the Microsoft Windows Engagement. Join a diverse team responsible for engineering initiatives with Microsoft throughout AMD’s product development lifecycle. Learn key AMD CPU and Platform design features as you work with AMD and Microsoft engineering teams to deliver optimized user experiences.  Lead projects which will improve AMD battery life, optimize AMD performance and enable end-users to take best advantage of all AMD’s products have to offer.

This role requires a great communicator who is dedicated to solving problems.  A curious mind capable of quickly synthesizing technical information and helping teams find creative solutions.  An organizer able to keep a variety of technical efforts on track.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive AMD’s technical discussions with the Microsoft Windows Kernel Teams for Client CPU/APU Products.  Ensure the Microsoft teams understand AMD product and technical information to make good decisions about Windows behaviors.
  • Engage with AMD Platform Engineering to ensure each Windows release highlights AMD silicon and platform investments.  Common projects include the definition, development and delivery of new OS feature requests to Microsoft.
  • As needed, support AMD and Microsoft engineering teams in problem investigation.  
  • As needed, support other technical leads when topics cross technology boundaries so that AMD’s graphics, chipset, media products.

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong communication and planning skills
  • At least 5 years of experience managing complex projects across multiple engineering teams
  • Project experience in areas like CPU/APU core design; Platform design; or, OS Scheduler / Power Management
  • Experience driving requirements analysis and technical scoping of OS or kernel driver projects
  • 2 or more years of experience writing kernel mode Windows drivers is highly recommended.
  • 2 or more years of experience with Windows 10 debug and profiling tools is preferred. 

 

Academic Credentials:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent from a university with 4-6 years of experience
  • Or BA/BS in related field plus PMP Certification with 2-4 years of experience.
