As a Design Engineer II in AMD’s Semi-Custom Business Unit, the focus will be on designing the next generation SOCs that will enable future gaming, graphics and high performance computing products.


Working as a member of the design engineering team, the individual’s responsibilities include:

  • Working with architects, verification team, and physical design team for IP development and large scale ASIC implementation, as part of a global team
  • Configuration, generation, and integration of AMD and 3rd party IP into an SOC
  • Design and implementation of power domain crossings
  • Developing UPF control files and power rule checking for multi-voltage domain designs
  • Synthesizing HDL, including power aware synthesis
  • Verifying digital logic using industry standard static timing analysis and formal verification tools
  • Contributing to power and area reduction, timing convergence, synthesis, floorplan & design verification
  • Developing new scripts, flows or tools to improve the efficiency of the design methodology


Required Education and Skills:

  • Minimum BS Electrical or Computer Engineering with 1-3 years, or  MSEE/CE with 1 year of hands-on design experience in ASIC/FPGA product development
  • General knowledge of high performance memory interfaces, processor architecture, and multi-clock systems is desirable
  • Experience in clocking, reset, power up sequences and power management is a plus
  • Experience with RTL coding in Verilog, VCS simulation, logic synthesis, and static timing analysis
  • Programming skills including Unix shell scripting and utilities (Perl, TCL, Ruby, makefiles) a plus
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills, with an attention to detail
  • Superb verbal communication and documentation skills are highly valued
  • Teamwork oriented and strong interpersonal skills are a must
