CPU Design Verification Engineer

 

THE ROLE:

In this position, you will perform pre-Silicon Functional Verification of next generation high performance Microprocessor designs. It involves research, design, develop, and/or test of electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. We have multiple positions open at all job levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform functional feature verification of high-speed Microprocessor designs, including development of infrastructure, directed and random test suites at behavioral RTL level across SoC, Core and block hierarchies
  • Develop environments, infrastructure and test plans to accommodate both full chip and stand-alone block level verification and debug capabilities using simulation tools, debug tools and programming skills, based on in-depth understanding of the architecture and HDL/logical design of the microprocessor
  • Participate in development of formal verification techniques.
  • Develop/support an automated regression infrastructure setup for functional verification of high-speed microprocessor designs
  • Based on thorough understanding of the design architecture, develop, run and debug x86 assembly based directed tests and random exercisers to validate functionality and testability operation of the microprocessor design leveraging C/C++/Perl/assembly programming, logic design and simulation skill set
  • Resolve all simulation discrepancies and assertion responses for both behavioral and gate level logic models
  • Measure and analyze coverage results and take necessary actions to fill in coverage holes

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Processor pipeline and memory hierarchy
  • Hands-on work in C++ programming for either hardware modeling or testbench development or projects of similar scope and complexity
  • Experience with industry standard verification testbench and IP methodology such as UVM or similar
  • Assembly language programming and Instruction Set Architecture of a current microprocessor.
  • Hardware Verification methodology and techniques such as simulation, debug, coverage, formal, etc.
  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment
  • Scripting languages (e.g. Perl or Python or Ruby)

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • MSEE, MSCE or related degree
