What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

DFT Design Engineer

AMD RTG BU (Radeon Technology Group Business Unit) is developing state of the art dGPU (Discrete Graphics Processor Unit) SoCs (System on a Chip) that are used in AMD’s gaming graphics cards as well as mobile systems, and MI (Machine Intelligence) SoCs that are used in Data Centers and Super Computers.

Our team is responsible for defining and driving the leading edge DFT (Design-For-Test) Architecture and Methodology solutions for the AMD RTG SoCs.

DFT logic and methodologies are critical and must-have parts of every ASIC and SoC product in the industry. DFT logic in AMD products is over 10% of the SoC silicon area and is present in every IP and sub-system.

RTG DFT Architecture and Methodology team's work is essential to the success of AMD as a growing company and industry leader.

The team is working with RTG ASIC design, IP Design, DFT CAD (Computer-Aided Design), Product Engineering teams, and Industry DFT tool vendors to define the best in class DFT solutions for RTG products.

Our work is on the leading edge of technology since the team is responsible for providing solutions for the next generation of the state of the art projects planned by the RTG BU.

You will be working as part of the team of experienced DFT engineers and architects on developing, analyzing, and evaluating state-of-the-art DFT architecture solutions, flows, and methodologies.

Job Purpose and KEY Responsibilities

The successful candidate will report to the Manager of the RTG DFT Architecture and Methodology team and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and prototype new DFT architectures and flow modifications.
  • Set up and carry-out experiments to try out, evaluate and compare new DFT methodologies on existing designs.
  • Work with Industry tool vendors to evaluate new tools, try new tool capabilities and features, provide feedback and propose tools improvements.
  • Work with SoC architecture, logic design, verification, static timing analysis, physical design, product engineering teams to collect and analyze data essential for developing new DFT solutions.
  • Support deploying new architecture and methodology solutions into ongoing SoC projects.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • BS in EE & CS. MS preferred, with 15+ years of experience.
  • Understanding and experience with DFX structures and methods such as - JTAG/IEEE standards, scan and ATPG, on-chip test pattern compression, and at-speed testing using PLL, Memory BIST, and repair, Logic BIST, on-chip debug logic.
  • Hands-on working experience in DFT design and flows such as Scan Insertion, ATPG, Memory-BIST insertion.
  • Hands-on Experience with Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, TCL, Ruby, Shell scripting), and C++.
  • Familiar with entire ASIC architecture and design flow.
  • Hands-on experience in logical design and design verification.
  • Experience in test patterns generation and silicon bring-up on ATE and in the lab.
  • Experience with DFT in power-aware / power-gated designs is a plus.
  • Understanding Analog and Mixed-signal logic design and testing is a plus.
  • Should have strong problem-solving skills
  • Good English hearing, speaking, reading, and writing capabilities
