THE ROLE:

AMD’s Cores Organization delivers industry leading CPUs and CPU Chiplets that are the foundation of AMD’s server, client, and gaming business. We are looking for an experienced SOC verification team lead to join this innovative team. This is a highly visible role that has a positive impact on many AMD teams and products. In this role, the candidate will lead a growing verification team, work closely with CPU Chiplet and System architects to develop a robust design at the highest quality, and coordinate verification requirements across several System and IP teams. The candidate will be a key contributor and leader for AMD’s next generation CPU chiplet. The candidate will join the team based in Fort Collins, CO. 

 

THE PERSON:

The candidate has experience being a technical team leader and delivering on aggressive goals on aggressive schedules. As a Chiplet verification lead for our CPU chiplet designs, it is important for the candidate to enjoy engaging with many different teams covering a breadth of technical areas. The candidate is an exceptional verification engineer. Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills are key. The candidate has strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and enjoys using those skills to accomplish goals that many might not think possible. Our team delivers critical designs for multiple AMD products and our team is growing both in capability and size, so the candidate must have the ability and desire to grow the team and guide and develop more junior engineers.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership for the CPU Chiplet verification team. Foster an environment of learning, professional growth, and high expectations for the team. Manage dependencies, commitments, and schedule across Architecture, RTL, DFT, IP and System teams.
  • Lead Functional verification of high-speed, x86 Microprocessor designs, including setting testbench architecture and strategy, test-planning, testbench component development and integration, random and directed testcase development, regression and simulation debug management and coverage closure.
  • Plan and develop tools and infrastructure to accommodate both CPU Chiplet standalone verification and deliverable verification components that support System verification with an in-depth understanding of the architecture and HDL/logical design of the microprocessor.
  • Develop, run and debug x86 assembly based directed tests and random exercisers to validate functionality and testability operation of the microprocessor design leveraging C/C++/Perl/assembly programming, logic design and simulation skill set.
  • Solve design and tool problems requiring ground-breaking approaches and champion innovation across the organization.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior leadership experience with verification techniques of microprocessors/ASIC designs.
  • Proven programming proficiency in x86 assembly, C/C++, Perl, and Ruby languages along with strong logic simulation competence.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Verilog HDL and System Verilog.
  • Demonstrated solid understanding of modern computer architecture.
  • DFT feature knowledge with JTAG -1149.x, Memory, Logic and I/O Built-In-Self-Test(BIST) and Scan design(LSSD/MuxD) structures and protocol would be a plus.

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS/MS in EE, CS, CSE (or similar), plus 8+ years verification experience
