GPU Ray Tracing Architect (Senior Engineer)
THE ROLE:
As a GPU Ray Tracing Architect, you will be working on exciting projects with the very best and most passionate GPU team in the world to create powerful new products that enable our customers, partners, and developers to tackle their computing and visualization needs efficiently and creatively. You will work in a hardware/software codesign environment to craft an industry leading ray tracing solution with algorithms and their implementations in hardware.
THE PERSON:
A self-motivated graphics enthusiast and effective team player who focuses on collaboration, team building, mentoring, and furthering team and company success.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled software designer and engineer, strong in 3D math, proficient in C and C++ and the efficient use of discrete GPUs, APUs, and CPUs. You are team oriented and are driven by difficult challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with a team of engineers and architects to explore new ray tracing technologies in real-time and offline applications
- Implement new features related to ray tracing to advance AMD’s HW/SW solutions
- Analyze and model ray tracing solutions to identify performance limiters in hardware and software on both silicon hardware and pre-silicon GPUs
- Improve ray tracing performance on current and future hardware
- Collaborate with engineers and managers on multiple sites.
- Identify complex technical relationships and problems, break them down, summarize multiple possible solutions, and help the team make advances in Performance, Power, and silicon Area (PPA).
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in ray/path-tracing hardware acceleration and software algorithms
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to details
- GCN / RDNA graphics architecture experience
- Experience with DirectX 12, Vulkan graphics APIs and/or CUDA or OpenCL APIs
- Knowledge/Experience in GPU programming/design
- Hardware modeling skills in C/C++ (GPGPU Sim or Multi-sim a plus)
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Masters, PhD or 5 years industry experience in relevant field (EE, CS, CE)
