The primary role of this position is:

This is a lead engineering position responsible for the entire Product Engineering solution on next-generation AMD microprocessors. Leads product development group’s efforts to characterize the product to customer specifications across the manufacturing population using DFX tools available. Serves as the primary technical point of contact to the business, design and product engineering teams. Work spans Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and System Level Test platforms to drive resolution of product issues including test HW, test SW, and device-specific IP. Part of a larger team that correlates the test solution to lab/manufacturing/customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness to product specifications.


Potential roles of a Senior Member of Technical Staff:

  • Has responsibility for projects or processes of significant technical importance and for results that cross engineering project areas.
  • Solves complex, novel and non-recurring problems; initiates significant changes to existing processes/ methods and leads development and implementation.
  • Influences technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.
  • Involves assuming the consultative or leadership responsibilities for large projects or product development initiatives.
  • Is required to deal with internal and external groups on behalf of the group or project.
  • Has accountability for results for a whole product or large project, as well as for management of interdependencies with related areas.
  • May provide technical supervision or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Influences others as a technical leader.
  • Generates publication(s) relevant to areas of expertise and is capable of presenting at technical conferences
  • Identify and plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with other departments.
  • Other duties as necessary.



Years of experience and education: Candidates will have a B.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 8 years of directly related experience or M.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 6 years of directly related experience.


Required Skills:

  • >5 years of experience in semiconductor product development.
  • >5 years of experience with developing tests, patterns/vectors, timing, and diagnostics on Automated Test Equipment.
  • Experience defining and validating a semiconductor device’s performance.
  • Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers.
  • Pareto analysis experience to drive a debug process.
  • Debug experience in hardware, software, device, and/or manufacturing domains.
  • Experience generating a publication relevant to areas of expertise.
  • Experience presenting at technical conferences.
  • Experience with a scripting language (Perl, Ruby, shell script, or similar).
  • Experience with logic analyzers, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools.
  • Experience with Linux or Unix Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office), Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams.
  • Experience presenting to Director level management internally.
  • Experience managing projects of 6-12 months duration.
  • Experience leading a 2-5 member project team.
  • Experience interviewing and selecting new team members.
    Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Experience with PC HW debug including networking, storage, and thermal control.
  • Experience with revision control (GIT, SVN, CVS, RCS or similar).
  • Experience with C++, Java, C, or C#.
  • Familiar with hardware description languages.
  • Courses or certifications in project management(PMI, LSS, AGILE).
