The Packaging Signal Integrity engineering team ensures that the performance requirements of the silicon and the cost requirements of the product are met through the integration of silicon, package and platform electrical design. Packaging Signal Integrity also provides design support to engineering design teams for both current and forward-looking product development and feasibility studies.


As an Application Engineer for the Simulation Technology group within the Packaging Signal Integrity team, you will be responsible for developing an in-depth understanding of all internally developed Signal Integrity tools to support both internal and external users in tool-setup, training, documentation, configuration, and debug. This involves working with design engineers to understand simulation workflows for all SERDES and Memory interfaces and enabling AMD customers in replicating these methods to optimize their own designs. You will have an opportunity to work on existing code and explore options for algorithm enhancement, improved visualization, error handling and feature enablement based on user requests. You will be required to communicate effectively and work in close collaboration with others in AMD as well as with AMD’s customers to ensure optimal engineering design decisions and efficient problem solving.

SKILLS and Experience requirements

  • Experience in Signal and Power Integrity analysis of high-speed chip-to-chip interconnects.
  • Experience in using Electromagnetics extraction tools and microwave circuit solvers.
  • Experience in programming in Python and Matlab.
  • Familiarity with electrical circuit simulation tools like Hspice, Verilog/AMS is desirable
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, complex analysis, time-series analysis is desirable
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and results
  • Ability to collaborate and work harmoniously with others
  • Ability to work independently
  • Undergraduate or Masters in Computer Engineering preferred
  • > 2 years relevant experience preferred
