<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Role:

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">In this position, you will be part of the 3rd Party Analog Mixed Signal IPCR Design Analysis / CAD team. Parallel teams within the AMD Circuit Technology division include Analog Mixed Signal Design, Custom Layout Design, 3rd Party Analog Mixed Signal IPCR Design Analysis, and Post Silicon Analog Design Characterization.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Person:

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">A unique aspect of our team is the breadth of electrical/design flow and circuit topology knowledge our work involves. Sustained focus on cross training between team members, and strong mentorship for new members, enables the level of positive and cooperative work environment needed to succeed. If you have a passion to interact with, and learn aspects of an entire ASIC design flow, such as silicon design methodologies, verification methodologies, and manufacturing, then this position is the right fit for you.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Key Responsibilities:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Responsible for understanding, analyzing and then supporting integration of analog/digital design components into the overall chip/AMD product.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Self Initiative to review flagged issues, analyze the problem from several angles, and then provide an assessment if the design issue must be fixed, or if the situation is not critical and AMD usage can proceed.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Investigating, and then developing better ways of automating the analysis workflows.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">You will use your combined hardware/software background to help create scripts and test cases to analyze/approve/endorse quality 3rd Party AMS designs.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">You will interact with external vendors outside AMD to review/discuss analysis results which indicate the design needs enhancement, as well as interact with AMD internal teams for cross-referencing issues after design integration into the larger chip environment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Improve and promote communication, teamwork, problem solving, mentoring and training.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Within this role experience is gained in many tasks:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Analyze electrical performance of hybrid Analog / Digital mixed signal (AMS) designs implemented using deep sub micron CMOS technology.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Research into the purpose and behaviour of the design to understand and then highlight any key issues.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Present / explain key issues to stakeholders from inside and outside AMD.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Work closely with Engineers within AMD Markham and other AMD design sites worldwide to enable solutions to these AMS designs.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Use software automation to Enhance IP design validation methodologies.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Utilize industry standard physical verification analysis tools to review hardware design components before final integration and preparation towards chip manufacture.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Preferred Experience<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">An understanding of analog and digital transistor device behavior
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Basic experience in using command line interface with UNIX or Linux, scripting, hspice, Verilog or VHDL, and drawing transistor layout are assets
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The ability to develop well-structured and maintainable software
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in order to work well with peers in Toronto and other AMD design sites.
