The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a growing team passionate about firmware that is important to all of AMD’s product lines spanning from server to Radeon graphics and semi-custom ASICs. As member of the ICT Firmware Engineering Team you will be part of the development group supporting cutting edge interconnect technology in both pre and post silicon environments. This team is also responsible for firmware transformation initiatives to propel the firmware organization to the next level. The Person:

To be successful in this role, you will have strong firmware development background and outstanding technical knowledge, complemented with problem solving and organization skills, communication and presentation skills. Hardware experience and knowledge is a strong asset in this deeply embedded application.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical owner for firmware for supporting next generation interconnect technologies both for AMD proprietary and industry standards like PCIe, CXL, and USB4.
  • Engage as a teammate and work closely with multi-functional teams such as BIOS, power management, architecture, design, and verification on delivery of integrated firmware solutions.
  • Develop low level firmware for embedded systems in an RTOS environment.
  • Support pre- and post– silicon as well as production cycle efforts
  • Develop and support full design cycle of embedded firmware solutions including architecture, validation and production

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years device driver or embedded firmware development experience
  • Specialist in C, strong in C++ or Scripting languages.
  • Hands on experience with end-to-end Firmware from pre to post-silicon and production cycle.
  • Demonstrated proficiencies with firmware lab debug, triaging and implementation of bug fixes for silicon bring-up, through production.
  • Well versed in software engineering practices.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines with minimal direction.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills.
  • Understanding of hardware and software system integration.
  • Strong analytical, debug, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with FW integration testing and debug in pre and post silicon.
  • Knowledge of verification flows including System Verilog, UVM and Emulation.
  • Knowledge of ASIC architecture and digital design/flow concepts.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows

 

Educational Credentials:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Engineering Science or Computer Science.
