Framework Engineer

The Role:

This position is crucial to the success of AMD’s Product Road Map and will be focused on providing critical diagnostics for the next generation of our flagship products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Diagnostic framework, Linux driver used by CPU and GPU diagnostic software to validate the SOC IPs.
  • Understand AMD KMD (kernel mode driver), collaborate with driver team and tool team to implement/develop KMDlib and merge KMD, verify KMDlib at both pre-silicon and post-silicon stage in diagnostic environment
  • Collaborate with ASIC design team/SoC architecture to implement correct sw requirements to enable teams to implement diagnostic tests.
  • Drive troubleshooting of some diagnostic found issues across organizations until root caused.

Requirements

  • Exemplary programming skills with extensive experience in C, C++, and script languages
  • Software engineering (architecture and development) in Linux
  • Excellent knowledge of x86 architecture with an emphasis on hardware interfaces
  • Proficient with compiler toolchains, debug tools, and build environments
  • Broad debug experience with JTAG and/or GDB to identify critical software bugs
  • Linux kernel and device driver development
  • Software performance analysis, optimization and low-level programming

Preferred Experience and skills

  • Knowledge of CPU and GPU architecture and familiarity in low-level programming
  • Work with the upstream Linux kernel community to present and implement new features in the upstream kernel
  • Familiar with source control systems like Perforce, SVN and Git
  • Hands-on experience with any one of board bring up

Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. In EE or CS or equivalent is required
