The diagnostics team is responsible for developing tests and suites that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the graphics chips developed at AMD. We are heavily involved in diagnostics development for the latest innovations that power the ultimate visual and computing experience. We understand the features that go into the hardware design and we have the software skills to program them to life.

 

As a successful candidate for this role, you will support our diagnostics development team through code development and debug of our diagnostic suites that run on Mac systems.  You are skilled at taking a system-level view of hardware architecture to isolate problems and then work with individual teams to root cause and arrive at a solution. You have a passion in debugging complex problems and excel in HW and SW debug. What You’ll Do

 

  • GPU Diagnostic and tools development and debug on AMD or Mac platforms
  • Work directly with external customer during their product development cycle: delivering diagnostic tests and tools to validate the AMD GPU on AMD or Mac systems. Troubleshoot, package and release these deliverables while maintaining an active relationship with the customer for any engineering issues
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams to develop and debug diagnostic tests and tools, working in a dynamic development environment through all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Triage, debug and root cause HW and SW issues, execute/coordinate testing to ensure high quality bar before customer release
  • Evaluate, suggest and drive improvements to framework and test architectures to improve HW coverage, debuggability and quality
     

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • MUST have experience in system software development on Linux
  • Experience with source control (svn, git, Perforce, etc)
  • Minimum of B.Sc.  in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Minimum 5-7 years demonstrated software engineering experience (or advanced education equivalent)
  • Exceptional software design, problem solving, and debugging skills with a deep understanding of OO principles
  • Excellent programming skills with demonstrated experience in both C and C++
  • Driver and/or embedded software development experience
  • Strong understanding of code optimization using the GPU, memory management, concurrency and multi-threading
  • Knowledge of PC architecture
  • Proven track record of delivering production quality software engineering solutions on schedule
  • Experience writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code in a large organization and code base
  • Strong technical communication and teamwork skills to
  • Experience supporting world class customers

 

What’s Nice to Have:

 

  • Software/driver development on MacOS
  • Familiarity with operating systems concepts and kernel debug
  • Knowledge of GPU and CPU architectures, especially AMD Radeon graphics hardware programming
  • Experience with parallel and asynchronous processing
  • Experience with software performance analysis, optimization and low-level programming
