Senior Technical Lead (SMTS) – Software Development


The Role:

As a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) within SSE organization of Radeon Technologies Group (RTG), you will be the Global Technical lead for the AMD DGPU Gaming and Workstation new product validation team. Your role requires technical engagement and collaboration with Development, Program Management, Business, Customer Engineering, OEMs, Dev and Release management.


The Person:

  • Experienced in developing software under Windows and Linux environments in C/C++/C#
  • Experienced in Software Development Lifecycle and debugging tools, using Perforce and GitHub, WinDBG
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills
  • Excellent hands-on debugging skills


Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing test system architecture, aligning the software validations pipeline by overseeing test data quality, while performing test data analysis.
  • Reviewing product specifications MRD and Product Use Cases
  • Full ownership of SQA DGPU test definition, test architecture, test design and methodology for graphics SW with greater than 3yrs of planning horizon
  • On a regular basis, reviewing product/feature design and implementation details with a focus on quality/testability.
  • Lead the Software team in bug-review, debug meetings, post-mortem reviews, monitor scope changes and guide QA Leads for appropriate test coverage
  • Review code check-ins to provide accurate coverage guidelines, demonstrate points, and risk-reward assessment
  • On and drive overall automation strategy & innovation in the organization.
  • Supply to the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive organizational test strategy for AMD RTG Software Products.
  • Will be working multi-functionally and across regional geographies with software and hardware development teams, project management, release management, and customer teams in order to drive and realize key initiatives of the software group.
  • Be a mentor to next level technical leads, MTS and Sr. Engineers


Preferred Experience:

Must Have:

  • 12+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated solid understanding of modern computer architecture, real time systems, device drivers, and firmware
  • Knowledge of computer graphics technologies (Gfx arcitecture, Codecs, DirectX, OpenGL, Compute, DRM, VR, Security, etc.)
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages, specifically: C/C++, Python, Linux Shell Scripts
  • Knowledge of modeling and test development strategies
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (documentation, processes, terminology): ISO 25000, ISO 29119, CMMI/TMMI, ISTQB, etc.,

Nice to Have:

  • Some database experience (SQL query, ETL pipeline)
  • Experience with REST API and extensible data formats (Json, XML)
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks, model training and tuning
  • Other programming/scripting languages (Ruby, C#, or others)


Academic Credentials:

  • BS or MS in EE/CE/CSBS or related field
  • Preferably should have Technical Patents/Articles/Publications or representations in industry forum
  • Candidates with patents filed will get added consideration
