IP Systems Engineer - 81263

The Person:

The AMD Semi-Custom Business Unit IP Systems Engineering Team is seeking an upbeat, experienced IP Systems Engineer to join our growing team where past products include game consoles like Xbox and Playstation. As an IP Systems Engineer, you will drive the planning, verification, silicon bring-up and debug of System Management and Power Management IP as well as chipping in on the development of related firmware for forthcoming AMD Semi-Custom SOC programs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Defining and executing the overall HW/FW functional test plans and verification strategy for System Management and Power Management IP
  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD’s capabilities in IP validation/verification, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology improvement, and various internal and multi-functional technical initiatives
  • Engage with pre-silicon verification efforts, including but not limited to FPGA-based emulation, Design Verification (DV), and other software/hardware modelling frameworks
  • Own development of firmware crafted for an embedded microcontroller in C
  • Own creation of utility software using C++, Perl, python, Ruby, and other scripting languages
  • Debug and support of IP HW or FW issues found during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SCBU product
  • Lead collaborative technical discussions to drive resolution on technical issues as well as rolling out technical initiatives


Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience with low level software/firmware and embedded systems as well as post-silicon verification
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly
  • Excellent knowledge of C, C++, assembly and scripting languages
  • Extensive experience with IP/system level bring-up, ASIC debug techniques and methodologies
  • Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including clock/power delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and pronounced attention to details
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excel in a dynamic team working environment
  • Self-starter, strong collaborator, and able to independently drive tasks to completion



  • Proven understanding of Linux-based operating systems and technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of system architectures and concepts
  • Technical understanding of Graphics, Display, Multimedia, PCIe, System Management, Power Management, Security and/or IO architecture & design
  • Experience in Doxygen or other SW Documentation generator tools
  • Experience with emulation or other pre-silicon validation tools
  • Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Technical Leadership and mentoring skills


Academic Credentials:

Bachelor, Master's or PhD degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or related degrees
