IT Infrastructure Solution Architect

The Role:

This position includes focus on using cloud resource to solve engineering problems and helps to define the next generation of engineering workload execution using on-prem and cloud resources. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge on the technology offered in different cloud providers. This role also offers an opportunity to liaison with other technical teams to come up with technical and tactical solution to address future needs.

The Person:

This person will need to have board scope of skills and experience to understand issues/limitations and seek innovative ways to solve them. Issues and limitations fall in a wide range of areas such as directory services (LDAP, Active Directory and NIS), storage (performance and permissions), job scheduler (IBM LSF), Linux and general information security to secure intellectual properties.

As technology is changing, the candidate will need new thinking on cloud adoption for engineering workload, cost optimization, simplification on processes to support existing and new engineering needs.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience deploying compute instances (VM or containers) for internal (and external) use on cloud services (GCP, AWS and Azure).
• Experience with implementation of RBAC, tagging, network connectivity, security on cloud services (GCP, AWS and Azure).
• Solid experience implementing cost optimization on cloud services (GCP, AWS and Azure).
• Solid Linux system administration experience (Red Hat and/or Ubuntu).
• Good understanding on the pros and cons of enterprise storage that supports CIFS, NFS, data caching, date de-duplication and replication. Working knowledge on managing Netapp, Isilon and other NFS based storage is definitely an asset.
• Knowledge of Linux job scheduler (such as IBM LSF) is an asset
• Good understanding with directory Services (LDAP, Active Directory and NIS). Experience with Centrify is an asset.
• Experience with different techniques and tools (firewall, ACL, iptables) to enforce information security.

Academic Credentials:

• BS CS or BS Computer Engineering is helpful but not required.
