THE ROLE:

Come and work on exciting new technologies that will differentiate our customer platforms in the market. Become a subject matter expert in SmartShift, Modern Standby, Gaming Optimizations, Battery Life, Hybrid Graphics, Adrenalin features.

We are seeking an experience software developer who has system level experience, and a strong Kernel Mode driver experience to join our Customer Engineering team.

We are one of the very few teams who work across most of AMD’s product lines: Ryzen CPU, Ryzen Mobile, Radeon Graphics, Instinct Accelerators in DataCenters.

THE PERSON:

It’s a startup like environment as the team is small and still growing, our team members will get a chance to do a bit of everything. The ideal candidate should be versatile from assembling systems to investigating into the source codes. Leadership skills to host meetings and drive issues to resolution. Able to communicate and work optimally with different teams across AMD. Most importantly, the candidate is open minded and not afraid to step out of their comfort zone.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the enablement of differentiated solutions/features on our customer design wins
  • Domain specialist on SmartShift, Modern Standby, Gaming Optimizations, Battery Life, Hybrid Graphics, Adrenalin features
  • Technical Lead for System Level Enablement / Debug / Optimizations
  • Specialize in AMD Graphics Kernel Driver
  • Understand architecture changes to the Graphics Kernel driver and system level architectures
  • Isolate point of failure at System level and in the Kernel driver
  • Modify or re-architect code to resolve defects
  • Analyze/Diagnose failure based on signatures (Windows Dumps, WinDbg Sessions)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years engineering proven experience
  • 3-6 years of Software Engineering experience of kernel drivers
  • 2-years of System Engineering experience
  • Proficient in C and C++ programming languages
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills required
  • Proven interpersonal skill, technical leadership and teamwork required
  • Microsoft Windows Architecture Knowledge
  • Microsoft Windows Debug skill (O/S, Drivers)
  • The x86 micro-architecture knowledge and peripherals preferred
  • Knowledge of DFT, JTAG, and System bring-up preferred
  • Ability to understand sophisticated code and ability to re-write easily
  • Participate in code-reviews by peers
  • Member of Functional Scrum team representing customer issues for North-America site

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering required
