Mega IP Systems Management Engineer - 133782

The Role:

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Systems Engineer with a focus in power firmware development, ASIC bringup and debug. You will be responsible for the full complement of AMD's APU and CPU designs, developing power features and driving continuous improvement in all areas.

The Person:

We are looking for an individual that thrives in cross team collaboration and is excited at the prospect of rapidly switching gears and moving to new programs. The engineer will be driving the planning, execution and debug of System Management Mega IP components for next generation and innovative APUs and CPUs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive SMU post-silicon domain validation and debug. Develop test scripts python, perl, and ruby.

  • Debug, take on HW/FW issues, as well as system-level failures related to power and performance features

  • Defining and implementing the end-to-end test plan and validation strategy for AMD IP

  • Own SMU mega IP domain expertise to support multiple FW and IP development groups. Assume responsibility for post-silicon activities related to power and system management IP in CPU/APU products.

  • Develop and prototype FW power management features for future platforms by implementing them and studying their efficiency.

  • Interact closely with teams in design, diagnostics, emulation, and driver and responsible for bringing up ASIC, enablement of IP functionality, debug of critical features, and full validation for production.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with writing and debugging system software or firmware for embedded systems

  • Strong programming/scripting skills in C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python

  • Extensive experience with ASIC debug techniques and methodologies

  • Extensive laboratory experience, including familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.

  • Good understanding of computer architectures

  • Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, analysis and optimization

  • Good understanding of clock/power delivery and sequencing.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • In-depth knowledge of PC architectures is an asset

  • Strong analytical skills and pronounced attention to details

  • Must be a self starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion

  • Ability to be flexible in terms of responsibilities

Academic Credentials:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering
