Operations Specialist                                                                     

 

The Role:

The AMD Radeon Technologies Group is seeking an Operations Specialist within its Software Engineering organization.

As part of the Software Engineering Operations team, you will be involved in a day-to-day Markham Labs management, development of new lab management processes and tools, as well as providing ongoing leadership to ensure Markham labs efficiency and effectiveness.

 

The Person:

You will represent Engineering and collaborate with several supporting functions including Facilities, Real Estate, IT, and Finance to ensure accurate data and functional alignment at every stage of the project. You will blend your project management and change management skills to create a plan and provide regular updates for an executive audience.

You will also be a key contributor to capital expenditures and outside services planning, forecasting, and reporting, project/program costing and forecasting, and staffing long range planning activities. You will interact with Software Engineering management, development and validation teams, business units and other program and resource management functions, including corporate reporting and budgeting teams. You will participate and represent our team in communications with internal and external forums and will be engaged in reporting on resource and budget statuses to executive management.

Responsibilities will continually evolve, and the successful candidate must have a desire to constantly learn and grow within the role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and track Long Range Planning (LRP) process for Markham labs and AMD labs globally.
  • Participate in and track lab requests through to final budget approval to ensure engineering requirements are met, costs estimated, budget is secured, and implementation is aligned with Facilities.
  • Contribute to IT capacity planning tool solution from requirements and use case definition through to pilot and implementation.
  • Manage outside services forecasting and spend tracking.
  • Manage capital expenses forecasting and spend tracking, including quarterly reconciliation.
  • Complete quarterly labour and non-labour forecasting and actuals spend reports (project based accounting).
  • Prepare project/program cost analysis based on actual and forecast costs as requested by program management and senior leadership.
  • Request, prepare, and analyze staffing Long Range Planning (LRP) data.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • 5 - 10 years operations, business analysis, project management experience in complex project & program management organization in the semiconductor industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills. High degree of proficiency with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Project Server, MS Powerpoint, MS Power BI. Experience with MS Sharepoint is an asset.
  • Advanced interpersonal and collaborative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of facilities management, lab usage and capacity planning is an asset.
  • Experience planning and driving IT project implementation schedules.
  • Ability to identify process gaps and propose solutions, and to create progress dashboard and visualize project plan for executive audience.
  • Self-starter and proven track record of getting results in a large matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally and work with global teams.
  • Proactively involves others in planning, decision making and implementation efforts.
  • Fosters collaborative and friendly environment.
  • Ability to drive multiple strategic operational programs, can multi-task effectively and handle dynamic priorities.
  • Flexible on assignment of responsibilities.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to grow within the role in terms of scope and responsibilities.

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Engineering, computer science, or business/finance degree is required.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
