JOB PURPOSE

As a Principal Member of Technical Staff of Platform Architecture, you will lead the platform architecture team working with state of art Graphics Processor Units (GPU). This is a very dynamic and fast-paced engineering environment where you will be leading and participating in a wide variety of challenging product development projects. Your responsibility is to technically lead a team of platform architecture/board hardware engineers focused defining and demonstrating new features, circuit implementations, and technologies prior to the product development cycle.   To achieve this goal will require demonstrated capability to closely work with power supply designs, to create/validate board schematics, to review PCB layouts, to evaluate components/circuits, to drive product bring-up, to support qualification, and to ensure smooth volume production within the given schedule.  This position will be focused on platform architecture for future products in the gaming and enterprise markets.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  1. Manage and lead a team of approximately 5 electrical engineers focused on the platform architecture of future graphics products.
  2. Technically lead cross functional engineering teams responsible for hardware development for graphics products focused on product architecture, product definition, board design, power regulation, board bring-up, qualification, quality, and customer co-development.
  3. Demonstrate exceptional cross functional technical leadership and communication skills within the platform architecture team and in your interactions with other engineering teams as well as with our program core teams, platform core teams, and validation/SOC development teams.
  4. Actively drive technical definition/architecture and program execution/ issue resolution in a dynamic development environment with programs that can be in various development phases ranging from concept, feasibility, execution, production, or sustaining.
  5. Work with SOC silicon architects and the business unit to define and develop product definitions, specifications, and cost targets.
  6. Drive the design and development of graphics boards for GPUs and its bring-up. Bring-up consists in testing, debugging and validating before supplying the boards internal development teams or customers.
  7. Drive innovation in circuit implementations, power supply topologies/designs, innovative design, and component selections.
  8. Lead cross-functional design and product development teams to overcome platform challenges in the areas of power, thermal, signal integrity, EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference), firmware, software, and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
  9. Define and manage experiments and assist hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, design verifications, optimizations, and fine-tuning for an optimum balance of cost and performance at board and system level.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. 10 + years of board hardware and system design experience with 5+ years technically leading an engineering team in this area.
  3. Solid experience of high-speed mix-signal design techniques.
  4. Solid experience in LDOs and Multiphase DC-DC switching power supply.
  5. Strong experience in Cadence tools, like Concept, Capture, Allegro.
  6. Experience with board or system development with ODMs is a plus.
  7. Experience in Power Integrity and Signal Integrity for high power ASIC products.
  8. Experience in hardware lab tools, digital oscilloscopes and other common lab equipment
  9. Proven ability to lead complex/fast-paced programs.
  10. Understand industrial standards: high speed/digital interfaces (DP, PCI Express), memory interface, I2C/SMBus/PMBus.
  11. Must be self-driven, collaborative, and a strong team player with technical leadership skills to support optimal performance.
  12. Demonstrated technical leadership experience is required.
  13. Excellent team work, communication and organization skills.
  14. Experience with high-speed serial interfaces, PCI Express, DisplayPort is a plus.
  15. Experience with fundamentals of power conversion and power delivery for high performance processors or GPUs is a plus.
  16. Experience with the design and development of RTL for FPGA based sub-systems and test and verification cases for FPGA configuration design.
