Program Manager

 

The Role:

AMD's graphics solutions are rapidly enabling all computing to move into the cloud. This is the mission of the Cloud & Virtualization Software team - whose solutions have enabled industry leaders such as Google CloudMicrosoft AzureAmazon Web Services, Tencent Gaming, as well as many enterprises worldwide.  In our endeavor to engineer a premium GPU experience in the cloud, we're looking for someone to help drive internal projects and help manage team operations.  This means you will be responsible for a diverse set of initiatives within software development spanning Cloud Gaming, VDI, Machine Learning and other innovative uses of GPUs in the cloud.  Best of all you'll be working with an innovative & collaborative team spanning Canada, USA, Serbia and China who engineer & deliver class leading solutions around the world.

 

 

What you gain:

  • Working with the latest technologies, gaming and workstation products, as well as Microsoft Project, Jama, JIRA and Confluence
  • Visibility into sound Program Management methodologies, software engineering practices and processes, organizational and teamwork/behavior, effective collaboration and communication
  • Understanding the New Product Introduction (NPI) life cycle from concept to production
  • International experience working with global AMDers across the globe
  • Experience in cross-functional Core Team settings, supporting Core Team PM and work with hardware teams, diagnostics and manufacturing to complexity of AMD NPI Products!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan the Cloud Software team's innovation roadmap by clarifying and analyzing requirements with software architects, managers and business leaders
  • Work with program managers to drive internal development of new products from pre-silicon design to customer release
  • Manage team resource planning, including forecasting, planning and negotiations with each respective business unit
  • Help define internal team policies and processes regarding best practices
  • Support technical leads and key engineers to drive technical innovations to fruition
  • Report progress weekly to software management and drive corrective actions when required

 

Preferred Skills and Experience :


Technical:

  • Engineering background preferred
  • Combination of strong technical background and project management
  • Good understanding of computer architecture with exposure to device drivers, firmware and/or graphics technology
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or other planning tool an asset
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence and Excel an asset
  • Experience with Agile methodology

 

Process-Oriented:

  • Mindset for project management and software development lifecycles and processes
  • Good understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management
  • Ability to grasp concepts during discussions and turn minutes into action items
  • Able to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders

 

General:

  • Analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and results-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times
  • Understanding of the semi-conductor market and experience in its respective technical customer support an asset
