Program Manager

THE ROLE:

AMD Advanced Technology Group is an entrepreneurial research and development team to build AMD's future advanced platforms & products. Our teams work closely with outside customers and internal teams to develop hardware, software and systems solutions into next generation computing platforms. As part of AMD Advanced Technology Group, you will have the opportunity develop a winning team that will collaborate with internal teams & customers, explore new platform technologies, and lead the development of best-in-class hardware, software and systems technologies that our customers will use for real-world problems.

The person:

AMD is looking for a Program Manager to coordinate program delivery between local teams and customer. You will be responsible for managing Customer Programs and Customer Tickets in JIRA. You will interact with key engineering and management stakeholders of the customer as well as Business Unit team to report progress, align on critical topics and drive action items to closure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create, run and report metrics to generate overall execution status internally as well as externally and make critical communication to stakeholders on schedule changes, unforeseen bugs etc. and align on right next steps
  • Craft and deploy standardized lightweight processes to bring execution focus and efficiency. Lead and drive these process adoptions among other groups within the Business Unit.
  • Manage and handle escalations with a sense of urgency and proactive problem solving. Make sure senior management is pre-fetched and no surprise escalations.
  • Make sure customer issues are assigned, prioritized and response/resolution metrics are met for the customer programs per QoS
  • Connect and coordinate internally with key stakeholders in cross functional team to address and balance prioritization of reasonable needs/asks vs. push back on others
  • Facilitate closure of complex issues and action items requiring multi-party alignment of AMD teams, customers and their partners
  • Drive alignment of customer product roadmap with AMD technology roadmap and facilitate planning and transition for customers well established on current technology
  • Engage directly in hands-on efforts for critical customer issues triage, analysis and resolution
  • Build strong engineering relationship with the program management and engineering counterparts on customer side
  • Create Scripts/Macros (i.e. JIRA, Excel VBA), to interface with our Customer issue tracking database to allow for automated metrics calculations

Preferred experience:

  • Good breadth of technical/system knowledge (SoC, FW, SW, Tools) and experience in multi-disciplinary engineering areas
  • Experience working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environment and ability to travel as needed
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Results driven
  • Team player with passion and hunger to do whatever it takes for business success
  • Keen sense of urgency and drive for results
  • Experience with JIRA or similar task / project management tool

Academic credentials:

  • BS, or higher, in Engineering (Computer or Electrical) strongly preferred
  • PMP certification a plus, but not required
  • Skilled in MS Excel, Outlook, JIRA, Confluence
