Project / Program Manager : Software Program Management Office

 

The Software Program Management and Operations team supports AMD Radeon Technology Group’s software engineering organization in the on-time delivery of software that supports AMD’s products and new technologies.  The SW Program Management team plans, monitors and tracks projects and programs in accordance to the software development lifecycle, provides status reporting, roadmap planning, budget and resource plans and actuals to stakeholders and key decision makers.  Our team, the Software Program Management Office, is responsible for defining, promoting and maintaining project management standards and best practices in the software organization.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Project Management Process Improvement: 

  •  
  • Manage continuous improvement projects of different magnitudes and complexities that will drive efficiencies and improve synergies in the project and program management community
  • Participate in the definition, documentation, maintenance and advancement of project management standards and guidelines according to best practices and industry standards
  • Contribute to ongoing development and improvement of both software project/program management and software development processes and tools
  • Monitoring activities to determine compliance to standards

 

Software Project/Program Management:

  •  
  • Successfully drive and deliver software improvement projects utilizing indirect resources working across multiple geographical sites
  • Closely work with and motivate SW component teams and functional teams to ensure relevant stakeholders are kept up to date and deliver to their commitments
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks;  actively manage issues and follow up on project team actions
  • Prepare and conduct executive project status presentations as needed

 

EDUCATION:

  •  Formal Project Management education, PMP designation, Agile Development Certification
  • University degree in software engineering or in computer science
  • Knowledge in Enterprise Project Management tools (i.e: MS Project Server)

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

 

General:

  •  Min 7-10 yrs managing software development projects and programs while working in large, multi-project/multi program environment and competitive industry
  • Previous experience with Program Management Office (PMO) roles or PMO functions and demonstration of defining and designing processes
  • Solid understanding of project management techniques and software engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent coaching, interpersonal and leadership skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Horizontal leadership/matrix management experience
  • Flexible Working schedule to work with global team

 

Process Oriented:

  • Proficient with process mapping and analytical software (Visio, Excel, Power point)
  • Strong passion and mindset for project management and software development lifecycles and processes improvement
  • Ability to grasp concepts during discussions and convey concepts visually in a process diagram
  • Possesses superior writing skills and is able to articulate and document concepts succinctly and to have a mindset for brevity in documentation
  • Is able to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders and demonstrates persistence in getting stakeholders to understand concepts
