Program Manager

 

The Role :
Seeking a strong, experienced Project Manager to help track multiple macOS software engineering teams and support AMD’s and the client roadmap to production. The job entails working closely with Engineering Managers, Architects and Program Managers to ensure software requirements and specifications are captured, scheduled and tracked during all phases of the software development process. The individual should have a background working with teams involved in low level - device driver software development. Requires a demonstrated ability to balance quick decision making with associated risks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute programs focusing on quality and deadlines
  • Drives completion of all required deliverables, with a focus on customer quality feedback and established deadlines
  • Creates and maintains project management artifacts such as schedule, resource and resource forecast, risk and issues logs
  • Provides unique views of project status updates and facilitates cross development team dependencies and communications
  • Identify action or mitigation plans for issues or risk that arise during the project lifecycle
  • Collaborates with core teams and execution teams to identify areas that require special attention or escalations to identify corrective actions
  • Partner with the QA/Validation teams to ensure a high level of quality
  • Work with the Director of Engineering to plan and execute continuous process improvements
  • Collect, analyze, organize and publish work performance data via dashboards and recurring status report
  • Strong self-motivator, with a sense of urgency when needed and strong crisis management skills
     

Required Skills:

  • Proven project / program management experience working with multiple software engineering teams
  • Ability to schedule and track multiple projects on the go
  • High level of proficiency with Excel macros and dashboards
  • Prior experience in dealing with demanding clients in a tactful manner
  • Outstanding independent cross-functional problem solving with some level of functional problem triaging skills
  • Experience managing projects in both waterfall and agile approach
  • Proven data driven mindset
     

Preferred Skills:

  • Good understanding of hardware bring-up
  • Knowledge of OS internals (macOS, Linux, Windows) and driver stacks
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generating reports from an SQL database
  • Proficiency in OmniPlan highly desirable
  • Project management of SW/HW platforms experience with exposure to device drivers, firmware, CPU, GPU, and/or embedded product development
  • Prior experience as a software/hardware development/validation team lead in a silicon development company (Graphics, CPUs, SoC)
  • Matrix management experience
     

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in technology product delivery (preferably silicon/semi-conductor based) with focus on software applications/stacks
  • 5+ years as a Program Manager in a technology environment
  • Formal project management education, PMP / Scrum Master designation is an additional advantage
  • Additional education, certification or specialized learning related to above business segments would be advantageous
