The Title : RTL Design Lead/Manager

 

The Role : AMD is seeking an experienced RTL Design Lead.  Technical contribution is the priority, however depending on the candidates' experience and interest, the role may include up to 30% management duties. Ideal candidates would further the team's technical leadership in RTL development of Foundation IP and I/O Subsystems utilizing high-speed (>1GHz) and low-power designs in 7nm and under technologies.  Key contribution would be interfacing a combination of in-house and 3rd-party I/O controllers and SERDES, spanning I/O-dense solutions on server and machine-intelligence products to gaming, and embedded applications, to notebooks and workstations.

 

The Person : will be good at making decisions, taking ownership and good at communicating technical concerns with cross functional teams

 

Responsibilities :

  • End-to-end ownership from specification to RTL design and verification to post-silicon debug
  • Communicating Verification requirements to IP and SOC Design Verification, Emulation teams
  • Coordinating and consulting with Firmware and Post-Silicon teams
  • Driving technical concerns to resolution among stakeholders in architecture, RTL design, DV, DFT, SoC, etc.
  • Supporting Synthesis, Logical Equivalence Checking, Clock-Domain Crossing (CDC) Analysis, Area/Power optimizations, Linting, Static Timing Analysis (STA)
  • Creating Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and implementing and verifying Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) on RTL, and on synthesized, pre- and post-route netlists
  • Coordinating with leads from other teams such as DFT, analog and mixed-signal design, protocol-specific PCS design, I/O controller teams, microcontroller firmware, IP/SOC deployment, front-end design, physical design, post-silicon validation, etc.
  • Interfacing with internal and external development partners, IP vendors and service providers
  • Occasional creation of utility software using C++, Perl, Python, or other typical scripting and programming languages
  • Coordinating Design Verification, Front-End Integration, and IP/SoC Deployment related activities
  • Scoping effort, resources, and development schedules for new features and change requests
  • Proactively participating in project planning, creating and maintaining schedules, managing dependencies, and ensuring quality of deliverables at committed milestones
  • Leading, supervising, coaching, and mentoring junior engineers - role may also include managing others

 

Preferred Experience and skill set :

  • RTL design experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Verilog, as well as Perl, Python, or any suitable scripting language
  • Strong understanding of interaction of digital and analog design at 7nm and below
  • Experience with low level, physical phenomena-oriented logic design (dealing with IO, clocking, voltage control, etc.)
  • Power/thermal management experience
  • DFT knowledge/expertise
  • Understanding of computer organization/architecture
  • Laboratory experience, from bring-up to production

 

Education :

  • Electrical or Computer Engineering
