SMTS Design Verification Engineer, Microcontroller IP

THE ROLE:

This is an experienced design verification role on our microprocessor subsystem team in the System Management Unit group. It is exciting because we deliver technology to roadmaps across AMD: client, graphics, server, and embedded. Our verification engineers improve the security and architecture of embedded MP subsystems. Make a difference with power efficiency and power management. We even do some custom firmware development. Never a dull moment!

THE PERSON:

Bring your experience in with ASIC design and verification. Work energetically. Mentor team members and work hands on resolving technical issues. Are you a strong communicator who understands the importance of developing reusable code over multiple product generations?

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with global Front-End design team on verification of Micro-Controller IP used in AMD’s APU, GPU and Server products
  • Work with multi-functional, teams: SOC, infrastructure, architecture
  • Improve existing UVM test bench with advanced design verification methodology
  • Develop and execute verification test plans and testbench component plans and drive reviews with peers and partners
  • Build UVM testbench components including stimulus drivers, monitors and checkers
  • Develop, simulate and debug directed and random stimulus System Verilog and C-based tests
  • Develop and analyze assertions and coverage terms
  • Participate in technical reviews of design specifications and test plans
  • Identify and address areas of concern to meet design quality objectives
  • Develop tools, infrastructure, processes and flows to enable functional verification
  • Track design verification delivery schedules to multiple projects
  • Plan and execute new team verification initiatives with hands on-approach to implementation

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and verification flows
  • Experience with Perl, Ruby, Python scripting languages as well as C/C++
  • Experience with Verilog and System Verilog languages, UVM verification methodology, bus protocols (AXI, AHB, other)
  • Experience with test plan creation and validation vectors to ensure functional completeness
  • Experience with industry standard tools used for design verification, power aware simulation, code coverage, etc.
  • Familiar with Linux environment (including shell scripting and Linux GNU tools)

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant subject
  • Master’s Degree preferred
