Customer Support Firmware Debug Engineer

 

THE ROLE:

Data Center GPU Customer Engineering organization will work closely with GPU firmware developers, server platform qualification team, and Customer Engineering team to build Integrated Firmware Images (IFWI) for GPU products to help debug and root cause GPU firmware related issues.

 

THE PERSON:

Should have direct experience with the system or GPU firmware image development, build and release for CPU or GPU, a person will need to be a strong problem solver and be able to work on mitigating customer issues, and collaborate with team members to propose solutions and ways to make forward progress.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for Integrated Firmware Image (IFWI) build and release for GPU SKUs for post-GA and pre-GA qualifications and tests to help with debug and root cause of firmware/platform related issues.
  • Strong Debugging, problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Must be well-organized, technically oriented, and a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and coordinate activities with geographically distributed technical teams.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and highly dynamic environments

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-on with GPU Hardware and Firmware  
  • Good understanding of firmware development cycle, integration and verification/validation
  • Expert C programming experience & debugging skills for embedded systems.
  • Proven ability to methodically root-cause complex failure at system level.
  • Exposure to firmware testing.
  • Experience in hardware/software interfaces and debugging sophisticated issues in CPU or GPU and firmware using JTAG, source code debuggers and other tools.
  • Experience with source control systems including git/gerrit
  • Ability to thrive on a dynamic and fast-paced work environment with quick results and delivery of engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

 

Academic Credentials:

  • 3+ years of BIOS/firmware programming experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
