The NBIO organization designs new prototypes for cutting edge design challenges AMD is facing across all market segments. The Design and Design Verification groups within this team are responsible for developing a balanced architecture between power consumption and performance, delivering high quality RTL code and creating advanced test benches using cutting edge verification techniques.

In this exciting role, you will assume technical leadership of custom digital logic that interfaces PHY/PMA designs to the upper layers of the PCS (Physical Coding Sublayer), and take responsibility of the design from requirements through implementation, SOC deployment, and post-silicon support.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading, supervising, coaching, and mentoring a small team of RTL & DV engineers
  • Micro-architecture of digital blocks and hardware/firmware partitioning
  • Digital design and RTL coding, scripting, and automation
  • Writing firmware for embedded microcontrollers in C, pseudo-code, or another abstraction layer
  • Conducting and subjecting to documentation and code reviews
  • Contributing to test plans and calling out design and verification requirements for tracking
  • Synthesis, Equivalence Checking, Clock-Domain Crossing (CDC) Analysis, Area/Power optimizations, Linting, Static Timing Analysis (STA)
  • Creating Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and implementing and verifying Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) on RTL, and on synthesized, pre- and post-route netlists
  • Coordinating with leads from other teams such as DFT, analog design, protocol-specific PCS design, I/O controller teams, microcontroller firmware, IP/SOC deployment, front-end design, physical design, post-silicon validation, etc.
  • Interfacing with internal and external development partners, IP vendors and service providers
  • Occasional creation of utility software using C++, Perl, Python, or another language
  • Coordinating design verification and implementation activities
  • Scoping effort, resources, and development schedules for change requests
  • Project planning, creating and maintaining schedules, managing dependencies, and ensuring quality of deliverables at committed milestones

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 years of professional engineering experience is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of Verilog, C, C++ and any suitable scripting language
  • Strong understanding of digital and analog electronics
  • Experience with low level, physical phenomena-oriented logic design (dealing with IO, clocking, voltage control, etc.)
  • Power/thermal management experience
  • DFT knowledge/expertise
  • Understanding of computer organization/architecture
  • Laboratory experience, including the use of equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and pronounced attention to details
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with management, peers, and subordinates
