What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

Job Description:

The NBIO performance modeling team is seeking engineers to join our innovative and interesting modeling work .  The person should apply if they have a strong interest in computer architecture and object-oriented programming (C++ , Java, Python) and are also crazily passionate about coding, scripting, and debugging.

WHAT IS PERFORMANCE MODELING?

Performance modeling is at the key foundation of computer architecture research and development.

Contemporary SoCs (System on Chip) are so complex that architects cannot design systems based on intuition and simple models only.

Adequate performance evaluation methods are absolutely crucial to steer the research and development process in the right direction.

However,  performance modeling is non-trivial as there are multiple aspects to performance evaluation, such as picking workloads, selecting an appropriate modeling or simulation approach, running the model and interpreting the results using meaningful metrics. Each of these aspects is equally important and a performance evaluation method that lacks  in any of these crucial aspects may lead to inaccurate performance data and may drive design and implementation in a wrong direction.

We are developing a NBIO performance model with the most innovative technology and tools that will accurately simulate the behavior of the northbridge IO. We partner with architects, other SoC modeling teams and performance verification team to ensure the accuracy of our model.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate would have shown demonstrated interest in any or all of the following topics, through course selection, labs, projects, or independent study:

- Computer Architecture

- C/C++, JAVA, Python, Perl, Ruby or other programming or scripting languages

- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and techniques

- Software integration and debugging

- The passion and drive to expand your coding skills
