Data Center GPU Validation Engineer 2

 

THE ROLE:

The Radeon Technology Group delivers AMD Graphics Products to market. The Product Validation Team (RTG-PV) is responsible for validating various GPU features and technologies prior to production. Technical IP Lead responsible for HW Systems Validation of AMD Graphics products. Systems are integrated combinations of computer hardware components (CPUs, graphics, memory, IO adapters and peripherals) and software components (firmware, BIOS, drivers, OS, virtualization, system management, and applications). This individual will interface with Silicon design, FW Design, Platform Design, Debug leads, Software and Validation teams to identify high priority silicon features and provide detailed technical direction drive focus and prioritize debug, test planning, and execution for all aspects of AMD’s enterprise product Validation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and execute test procedures to validate the design of various GPU components and features
  • Debug failures in collaboration with various engineering teams to deliver products to market with quality
  • Plan and report validation progress to program leads
  • Develop and maintain automation framework for validation test cases using Ruby and other programming languages

 

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Technical ownership across AMD of specific GPU IP/functional blocks for validation of graphics products
  • Develop expertise and test procedures to validate the design of GPU IPs and functional blocks
  • Execute test procedures across multiple graphics products targeting gaming, workstation, server, and data center markets
  • Provide status updates and technical guidance to program leads for strategic and business decisions
  • Identify, report, and isolate failures found in Validation
  • Work with multi-functional teams to Debug IP failures to deliver products to market with quality
  • Make improvements to system level validation test strategy, methodology, and process
  • Develop and drive detailed workflow for post-silicon system validation process
  • Develop and maintain automation framework for validation test cases using Ruby and other programming languages

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to learn new sophisticated systems and designs, distill information into structured test procedures, and adapt to problems when they arise during execution
  • Ability to perform sophisticated analysis, draw insights, and communicate technical findings/recommendations to program leads and senior management
  • Ability to network, build relationships, and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize, and balance multiple work streams to tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Debugging skills at SoC and System level
  • Knowledge of modern OS kernel (MS, Linux) and programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, …
  • Understanding of industry standard IO interfaces (DDR3, DDR4, SATA3, USB3, PCIe3, XGbE)
  • Familiarity with pre-silicon environments (Verification, Emulation, Bring-Up) is a plus
  • Experience with Computer Architecture concepts and silicon features
  • Experience with Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems, Hypervisors (VMware, KVM, XEN, Hyper-V, etc.), and validation/certification processes for each of these environments


ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and relevant working experience in new product development from a silicon design, platform design and/or product engineering field.
