The Role: 

The KMD (Kernel Mode Driver) team is responsible for developing a variety of core software features bridging the operating system with AMD’s graphics hardware. The Testing and Tools team develops a variety of tools that facilitate driver development, which includes to assembly and maintain set of computers that will allow the developers debug Windows drivers remotely whenever is needed. This laboratory is being called internally as the “KMD debug lab” and its creation and maintenance will constitute the main role for this position. 

  

The Person: 

We are looking for a talented IT technician who is passionate about computers, system maintenance and design. You will be working with a group of engineers to create and maintain tools and automated debug/test systems that will support AMD graphic drivers’ development. 

You will work as a part of a team to develop, improve and/or maintain internal systems. You mainly will maintain a set of Windows machine running and, eventually, will code using PowerShell and Python to automate part of the process. 

As this job position is for a growing team, which is expanding its scope, the ideal candidate should be a versatile person, open for new challenges and, at the same time, a good team collaborator. 

A passion for quality is paramount, and strong Windows maintenance skills are a must. Aligned with that, strong problem-solving skills, be an organized person, ability to work as a part of a team and a good understanding of PC operating system concepts are required. 

Knowledge of debugging methodologies, and device driver development under Windows is a plus. 

  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Configure and Maintain a set of Windows machines available for debugging. 

  • Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot a wide range of hardware, including new GPUs and APUs. 

  • Perform analysis and recommend system improvements. 

  • Provide preventative maintenance services to existing equipment. 

  • Install and configure appropriate software according to specifications and/or requirements. 

  • Work with other engineers for feature implementation and problem-solving. 

  

Preferred Experience: 

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. 

  • Windows operational system maintenance. 

  • Knowledge of computer networking and internet technologies. 

  • Capacity to write script codes in PowerShell and Python. 

  • Be able to independently drive tasks to completion. 

  • Solving problems, ability to triage and root cause issue. 

  • Customer service mind set and good communication skills.
