Video Coding Software Engineer

The Role:

The AMD Multimedia software team is on the lookout for a dynamic, upbeat software engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s IP, you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market.

The Person:

We are looking individuals with a passion for Design, development, validation and maintenance of Multimedia Firmware, Device Drivers, APIs, SDKs and Apps for current and future generations of Accelerated Processing Units (APU).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement device driver and firmware for AMD APU products
  • Construct and execute Multimedia functionality to support new HW, SW or OS specifications
  • Reproduce, debug and resolve graphics driver issues with specific hardware and software contexts
  • Craft and develop test applications and quality assurance programs

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Extensive Multimedia (video codecs, color formats, video algorithms) experience
  • Adept in Object Oriented Programming
  • Embedded Programming knowledge and skills
  • Experience with x86 / ARM CPU architecture and System-On-Chip bring-up
  • Solid understanding of GPU and/or APU
  • Kernel Mode Debugging skills, experience with WinDbg, SoftICE, etc.
  • Troubleshooting, ability to triage and root cause issue

Academic Credentials:

  • University Degree or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering
