Software Process Quality Architect

 

THE ROLE

The SSE Strategic Alignment and Analytics team ensures that the 500-strong Software Systems Engineering organization driving product and software quality at AMD is a well-oiled machine. The team develops the strategy and initiatives to drive alignment across the organization and with the rest of the company.

 

As a Software Process Quality Architect, you will become familiar with the vast ecosystem of tools, processes and data sources that make up the AMD product development lifecycle. You will design, develop and deploy collection procedures for metrics at each lifecycle phase, of which you will define. Interacting with business and technical leaders in strategy, release management, engineering, validation and program management roles is essential to this role’s success.

 

You live and breathe “quality”. This is evident in the workflow you will be developing that (1) addresses issues highlighted by the metrics collected, (2) ensures stakeholders understand the impact and, (3) secures swift action.

The successful candidate is self-motivated and is at ease working with a broad set of tools, languages, and technologies – and has a high aptitude for diving in and adjusting to different paradigms. The candidate thrives in a fast-paced and agile environment and knows how to juggle multiple deadlines. The candidate is comfortable negotiating and forging win-win scenarios within and outside the organization, and values simplicity, brevity and clarity. Mastery in public speaking is an asset.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect quality standards across the entire product lifecycle, and PM the E2E Quality project for the implementation of the same.
  • Manage the execution of multiple parallel projects within a matrix environment balancing competing demands
  • Develop comprehensive program plans and work with cross-functional engineering teams to lead quality programs and strategic initiatives from initiation to completion
  • Maintain necessary program artifacts for all software delivery including scope definition, specifications, schedule/Gantt, risk register, resource plans, status communications, etc.
  • Build and maintain a “living” process and quality map of the entire product lifecycle
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and action is taken to enable improvements on future programs, products or processes
  • Present program status updates to all levels of the organization tailoring the message delivery for the intended audience
  • Play a key role in understanding product architecture, requirements and ensure scope control

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Senior roles in, or related to, software process quality, project management.
  • Strong experience in end-end software lifecycle, from both engineering and management points-of-view
  • Expertise in developing requirements, and its management
  • Strong experience in end-end software lifecycle, from both engineering and management points-of-view
  • Experienced in leading software validation including development of test plans, execution of tests, reporting  and collaborating with required stakeholders
  • A post-graduate degree in engineering, computer science, or other quality-related field
  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, verbal and written)
  • Knowledge and experience in a variety of quality standards (e.g., ISO 25010)
  • Extensive experience in change management and successful deployment of large-scale projects
