Software System Designer 2

The Role:

The Core Team of Software QA is looking for a Software System Designer 2 for the new Operating System introduction (NOI). As a Software System Designer 2, you will execute the workflow to validate and deliver new Operating Systems that will be ultimately used by customers using graphics and client-based AMD solutions. The right candidate will have an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated software programs, and experience with discrete graphics-based systems and their respective software driver and firmware models. Any prior software or firmware development or testing experience will be a strong asset to have.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects related to validation, certification, and release of multiple flavors of Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Uncover high-quality defects and take them to closure working with the relevant partners.
  • Tackle and debug system/component issues (HW/SW) end-to-end. Characterize, contain, and root cause defects of reasonable to high complexity on multiple versions of OS.
  • Build and maintain test infrastructure and continuously keep it up to date.
  • Define/develop/execute regression test models and track the results.
  • Develop new test cases/plans and optimize existing ones.
  • Prepare and present status reports on the progress of the validation activities and issues discovered.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Should have a good conceptual understanding of OS internals and PC/server subsystems is highly preferred. Advanced experience with graphics subsystems is an added advantage.
  • Should have in-depth knowledge of software test techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience in leading teams on validation projects will be a plus.
  • Should have good analytical skills to troubleshoot/debug technical issues. Prior Experience in Windows debugging (WinDBG), software testing and test automation will be a plus.
  • Experience with the WHQL certifications for drivers and Windows Certification tool (HCK/HLK) is highly required.
  • Familiarity with requirement management tools, such as Jira and Confluence is an advantage.
  • Should possess good problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required.

 

Academic Credentials:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent from a university. Candidates without a Computer Science degree but with proven experience are welcome to apply.
