THE ROLE: 

AMD’s Server Core Firmware team is looking for a firmware engineer to develop, debug, and integrate firmware solutions for microcontrollers in the AMD SoC.  The engineer will develop new software features, collaborate with architects on new initiatives, resolve technical challenges, and align efforts across engineering teams within AMD.

 

THE PERSON: 

We are looking for a Firmware Development Engineer to implement embedded firmware to support early SoC initialization.  The successful candidate will employ solid design methodologies, deep technical knowledge, and well-honed debug skills across multiple FW components to ensure on-schedule, defect-free system firmware.  The developer must have experience working in a large, process oriented organization.  Experience developing firmware to run in a multithreaded, limited resource environments is critical. 


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with computer architecture.
  • Experience with firmware development.
  • Experience with SPI, I2C, LPC, and PCIe.
  • Experience with source code debuggers.
  • Experience with source control systems such as svn or git.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experiences working with RTOS and other embedded OS environments.
  • Experience working on server platforms.
  • Experience developing complex code as part of a worldwide organization.
  • 5+ years device driver, BIOS/UEFI, or general firmware development experience
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal.
     


EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s degree required
