Sr. Quality Technician

This Role:

The Quality Returns Debug Team is looking for a Senior Level Technician who will work with our board operations and engineering functions to perform card-level debug on customer and factory failures to determine root cause and work with appropriate technical owners on preventative and corrective actions to address the failures.

 

This Person:

 

  • Has a demonstrated experience with technical problem-solving
  • Aptitude and desire to perform hands-on technical tasks
  • 5-10 years of working experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzer, in-house test tools
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design, memory interface (HBM, GDDR), PCIE bus interface, display outputs (DP, HDMI)
  • Proficient in reading electronic schematics and electronic component datasheets
  • Can readily identify components on the card and can rework/apply-solder for debug
  • Familiar with IPC-610 quality standards
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support internal and external requests to troubleshoot card-level AMD product failures for continuous yield & quality improvements, and customer quality support
  • Perform incoming inspection and document condition of all units submitted for analysis
  • Perform failure analysis to determine root causes of failures within expected timelines, including analyzing card level features to validate functionality and spec conformance
  • Triage and communicate with the contract manufacturer and AMD teams (such as BIOS, memory, I/O, display, diagnostics, etc) as needed to converge on root cause
  • After root cause identification, drive accountable issue owner to ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken to meet customer expectations
  • Document all findings into FA database and create a completed failure analysis report for customer consumption
  • Implement ongoing continuous improvements of failure analysis process & techniques

 

Educational Credentials:

  • College Diploma – Electrical Technician or equivalent
