Systems Design Engineer - 132642


The Role:

As part of the RTG Product Validation team, the System Design Engineer leads the post-silicon product validation and system debug efforts of AMD’s latest dGPUs.


The Person:

Highly motivated, innovative individual with a keen interest in finding and resolving silicon/platform issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement validation test plans focusing on product level regression testing, report coverage plan and perform debug experiments

  • Improve and optimize the test methodology and strategy with automation for more effective and efficient test execution

  • Perform system-level debug to narrow down the issues to various HW/SW blocks

  • Own and drive multi-functional engineering efforts to root cause of sightings and verification of fixes

  • Develop validation strategies, pioneer hardware/software validation improvements


Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware architecture (CPU/APU, graphic cards, memory, bus logic, and display technologies) and software architecture (driver/bios)

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes and logic analyzers)

  • Solid understanding of circuits design, software (driver/bios) architecture

  • Hands-on debug experience with dGPU/APU, motherboards, memory interface, bus logic

  • Critical thinking skills, be able to craft experimental testing for debugging purposes

  • Programming/Software development knowledge with experience with scripting languages such as Ruby/Python/Perl

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems

  • Knowledge in display technology an asset


Academic Credentials:

  • BS. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
