GPU Compute/Graphics Architect

 

THE ROLE:

We are looking for engineers who are motivated to challenge the status quo.  If you are excited to work with some of the brightest minds in the world while developing and modeling leading algorithms, and the hardware and software required for advancing our visual rendering systems, then AMD may be for you. 

 

You will be part of a fast-paced team working on the modularization of advanced graphic and compute pipelines, producer/consumer graphs involved in scheduling advanced gaming workloads.  As part of a team of engineers of varied disciplines who are responsible for architecture, modeling, software, kernel development, micro-architecture, performance projection, power performance analysis delivering GPU architectures for various products.

 

Your work will include command and control systems. GPU ISA (instruction set architecture), compiler development and kernel optimization.  You will be responsible for writing architectural specification for new features and instructions. You will be also responsible for performance simulation and projection.   You will be working with software, architecture, and design leads to understand all various scenarios of the product parameters, such as performance, die area, power and schedule.  You will be the key point of contact on features from development, performance all the way to RTL debug.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architect, model and analyze hardware and software features to improve products performance, abilities, and cost
  • Identify emerging artificial intelligence algorithms or technology for use in GPU gaming systems or development
  • Analyze algorithms to identify and eliminate performance limiters
  • Implement, document and test new features to assure correctness and consistency with planned algorithm


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-7 years of experience in a GPU hardware and software architecture development and modeling
  • Strong programming and hardware modeling skills in C\C++ (GPGPU SIM a plus)
  • Parallel programming experience on Multi-Core\Threaded Architectures for performance with  irregular workloads
  • Industry Experience in ray/path-tracing hardware acceleration and software algorithms
  • Industry Experience in ML/Inference hardware acceleration, and algorithm development
  • Strong GPU driver/compiler understanding with GPU graphics programming experience
  • Knowledge/Experience with GPU general-purpose computing
  • Scripting language (Python, Perl) and UNIX/Linux experience, RTL a plus
  • D3D, Vulcan and OpenGL graphics application knowledge and experience desired
  • OpenCL/CUDA/ROCm development experience desired

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • MSEE, PHD in electronic or computer engineering

 

Preferred location is Orlando, but willing to consider individuals who would be open to working from our Toronto, Santa Clara or Boxborough offices
