RTL Design Engineer

The role:


The Command Processor is the front-end controller of the graphics pipeline. Will have ownership of feature development, authoring microarchitecture specifications, implementing RTL, reviewing verification plans. Collaborate with the System Architecture and Verification teams.


The person:


The successful candidate will be an affective communicator, both written and verbal, with practiced leadership skills in the industry. AMD is looking for someone who is a strong analytical problem solver and problem-solver with excellent attention to detail and good Verilog coding skills with a proven track record.


Key responsibilities:


  • Working with architects to understand features to be crafted and implemented
  • Writing micro-architecture specifications for logical blocks within the graphics architecture
  • Estimating impacts of new features on area, performance and power consumption
  • Being an active leader of a design team to implement and verify RTL logic using Verilog and System Verilog
  • Reviewing test plans to ensure the verification strategy covers all aspects of the design
  • Giving assistance to resolve synthesis, area, timing analysis, and power consumption issues
  • Analyzing pre-silicon and post-silicon test failures to determine root cause


Preferred experience:


  • Must be proficient in Verilog, System Verilog, C and C++, and working in Linux and Windows environments
  • Must have ASIC design knowledge and be able to debug Verilog RTL code using simulation tools
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and good coding skills are required
  • Must have excellent partnership and communication skills
  • Graphics pipeline experience is preferred

Academic credentials:


  • Must have a BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (MS degree preferred)
